El món dels virus informàtics està en continua evolució, i un programa antivirus només pot ser bó si evoluciona de forma paral·lela i a la mateixa velocitat que els virus. Això fa que les recomanacions tinguin una validesa temporal limitada, i que el més recomanable sigui consultar pàgines especialitzades per mantenir-se al dia. Tanmateix, els següents són alguns dels programes antivirus gratuïts que tenen millors crítiques per part dels especialistes. GIMPshop for Windows is still under development. The only change to the normal GIMP, other than the menu layout and Photoshop naming conventions, is that it adds a background window to the user interface. This background window causes significant bugs in the Windows version, however, often causing windows to gray out or become unresponsive. It also uses an older version of GIMP, 2.2.11, instead of the current 2.4.1.
